Today, the Security Fire Department is one of the largest departments in El Paso County, serving the ever-growing population of Security and Widefield.

The department has an average call volume of 2400 calls a year for service and employs:    • 12 full-time personnel  • One paid Fire Chief   • 50 volunteers

The Security Fire Department's mission is to provide the highest quality professional service to our community. We resolve to do this within a framework of empathy, compassion, and dedication to the citizens we serve, and to each other.

Promote and provide education in fire and life safety provide extinguished through effective response and intervention to minimize life and property loss. Ensure the highest quality pre-hospital emergency care to the sick and injured.

As a native of Security Colorado, Ski joined the Fire Department in 1980, over the years he has held various ranks from Driver/Engineer to Deputy Fire Chief. In 2001 he was appointed as Fire Chief.
